APA Awards Greensboro, NC’s enCodePlus-Powered GSO2040 Comprehensive Plan Its Highest National Recognition

American Planning Association (APA), the national association of urban planning professionals, has awarded Greensboro, NC, the prestigious 2022 Daniel Burnham Award for its GSO2040 comprehensive plan, which was built on the enCodePlus planning and zoning technology platform.

APA’s Burnham award is the highest US professional recognition given to a city, town, or county for comprehensive plan implementation.

GSO2040 is a modern plan, beautifully displayed online, with a logical structure, well-considered strategies, and compelling presentation that reflects the voices, needs, and desires of the Greensboro community,” says Ben Hitchings, APA Board of Directors member and vice-chair of this year’s awards jury.

The Greensboro Planning Department used the enCodePlus platform to integrate and present its plan, the LDO, and the digital summary in a way that enables the city to share vision and policy in terms that resonate with their audiences.

“Publishing the 2040 Comprehensive Plan with enCodePlus’ WebPlan brought it to life,” says Greensboro Planning Director Sue Schwartz, FAICP. “It allowed us to move policy out of the binder and into the world.”
